BioTag+, developed by Big Dutchman, is an innovative solution for continuous monitoring of sows, providing crucial information on health, heat detection, and imminent farrowing.
This new ear tag features two integrated sensors that consistently record each sow’s temperature and movement data. The OrbitX IoT gateway transmits these data to the cloud, where an AI algorithm analyzes them and sends the results to your smartphone, tablet, or PC through the BFN Fusion farm management system. This enables timely insemination in the service center, among other benefits.
BioTag+ also offers optimal support for sows that are lactating while being housed in groups during gestation and service periods. Through continuous data recording and analysis, the system can predict upcoming farrowing approximately twelve hours in advance.
Big Dutchman’s Agilo FB farrowing system for lactating sows includes a free-access feature, which can be activated by the ear tag. Any sow marked for imminent farrowing is automatically confined in the farrowing crate during her next visit. All critical information is available in real-time via an app installed on your phone.
